FR. RICHARD

Rector

Fr. Richard was a pediatrician for  40 years before being ordained to the priesthood. He answered God's call to become a priest three years ago and was ordained in August 2019. He was an associate rector at The Church of Messiah for two years before becoming the interim rector here at St. Luke and St. Peter's in May of 2021.  He said that he first felt the calling to the priesthood at a young age, but as he grew older, he realized that he wanted to have a family, and catholic priests were not allowed to marry, so he found another way. He graduated from medical school and began to help the community that way. During this time he met his wife Esther and they have two children, and now two grandchildren. He eventually found the Episcopal Church and served as a deacon and eventually pursued priesthood. Father Richard was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1962 with his family. During his Ordination Service the Bishop of Cuba was able to attend and be a part of his ordination service.

Dorothy Spencer

Deacon

Our amazing Deacon came to the States from Jamaica many years ago. She spent most of that time in New York working in the corporate world.  Then she and her husband, Stanley, retired and re-located to St. Cloud. After Stanley's death a few years ago she felt called to the Diaconate, and we are so happy that she was. She has brought her own style of grace to the Church and is very active in the prayer ministry and pastoral care.  Deacon Dorothy is also an integral part of our Vacation Bible School as she teaches Bible stories to the children.

REV. ERIC SHOEMAKER

Deacon

Eric is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University. Eric served as a vocational deacon of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Southeast Florida and the Diocese of Washington, DC. He was ordained in 2001 at Trinity Cathedral in Miami. Eric’s day jobs ranged from US Army service in Special Operations and Military Intelligence, law enforcement, to the US Intelligence Community. Eric’s experience working in poor countries with populations of hungry and homeless people resulted in feeling a call to the Diaconate to address those same needs at home. From 2003, until relocation to Central Florida in November of 2019, Eric and his wife Joan continued his vocation of feeding the hungry in Charles County, Maryland.

Hey everyone! My name is Brandon Phelps, and I am the Youth Director for St. Luke and St. Peter. I’ve had a passion for Youth Ministry for sometime now and feel as though this opportunity was a calling from God. This is the church that I have called home for my entire life, and it was truly a blessing for me to take on this position. In my spare time I enjoy going to Disney with friends and family, playing sports (specifically golf), watching movies, and learning new things! I currently have a 4.0 GPA and will be graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management from the Rosen College of Hospitality at the University of Central Florida at the end of the year! I look forward to this new responsibility in the church and growing the Youth Ministry!
